Dating Safety And Awareness:

UWindsorDating.com wants all of its members to be safe, and to use caution when arranging any kind of meeting with another member. We've developed a list of things for you to follow, or at least consider, when meeting someone for the first time.

These dating safety and awareness tips are:

1) Meet in a public place that is well known and convenient to you.
Never have the person pick you up at home or at work.

2) Don't give out any personal information at first.
Avoid giving out your home phone number, or personal address -- whether that be at home or at work.

3) Tell friends where you're going.
Always tell a few good friends where you are going, and who you are meeting. Describe the person you are meeting to them.

4) Carry a cell phone.
Carry a cell phone on your date. If you don't have one, borrow one from a friend. Phone your friend during the date to confirm everything is fine.

5) Don't rush it.
Chat away and get to know each other as much as possible. Ask lots of questions. Make sure you are comfortable with whomever you are chatting with. Check that you know as much as possible before agreeing to a date.

6) Chat on a cell phone.
Chat on a cell phone for a while before arranging a date. Get a feel for each other that way too.

7) Ask your date to leave a message.
If possible, ask your date to leave a message on your answering machine before hand.

8) Make your own travel arrangements.
Do not accept a lift home on your first date. If traveling far, organize your own accommodation and confirm it.

9) Keep a time limit, or end point on your first date.
Make a time limit at the start of your date. This way you have a convenient "exit" if your date isn't going well. Lunch is a great time to meet.

10) Don't feel that you owe it to someone to meet him or her.
Don't let other members "talk" you into meeting them.
